If you need your art fix for the month of October (and I
know I do!), here are some shows that you won't want to miss. It's the first art walk of autumn, and you know what that means: Halloween! So prepare yourself for some seriously creepy, disturbingly strange, ghoulish, ghastly, ghostly-themed fun!
TONIGHT! The
1st Wednesday Art Walk in Wallingford, Wednesday, 3 October from 6-9pm. It's the last art walk of the year for Wallingford, and the community is celebrating with "Night of 1000 Unicorns: A Night of Art, Music, and Magic." Fantastical costumes are encouraged! Don't miss live music performances throughout the evening by Catch the Cat, Nate Jester, and Jeremy Serwer. Come see "The Picture Show" at Kerf Gallery - paintings by Susan B. Pope and Sheila M. Scott. Windows Art Gallery will be showing the avian photography of Tom Talbott. Cafe Appassionato is featuring the paintings of their very own barista Holly Siberg. There will also be the art of Richard Lemert at the Grizzled Wizard, Dan Wend at Blue Star Cafe, live graffiti art by Hera at All City Paint Supply, and more!

The
1st Thursday Art Walk
in Pioneer Square, Thursday, 4 October from 5-8pm. It's the once-yearly opening of the Tashiro Kaplan Artist Lofts! Experience six floors and fifty studio spaces of artists who live and create in the heart of Pioneer Square!
"Small Voids," will feature 110 mini 'galleries' each containing the work
of a different Seattle artist. Each piece is encased in a 12"x12" Plexiglas box
and will hang via industrial strength magnets from light poles and street
signs, for ONE NIGHT ONLY along the block beside the Tashiro Kaplan building. After the Seattle art walk, the whole show will be moving on to Oakland and then Portland.
Don't miss "Teeth,"
essential
yet disturbing, and sometimes painful - four artists gnaw over their
personal experience and response to the subject of teeth at SOIL.

The Seattle Art Museum (SAM) Presents:
"Elles - Pompidou Exhibition." This exhibit tells a story of modern and contemporary art solely
through the work of women artists. It challenges visitors’ assumptions about art of the past century and explores the complex story of the role women have played throughout
the history of 20th and 21st century art. Opening night is Thursday, 11 October, and the show runs through 13 January. There will be a "Community Night Out" on Friday, 12 October from 6-9pm. Tickets are FREE, but you have to reserve them in advance online here.
The
2nd Thursday Art Walk in Capitol Hill, Thursday, 11 October from 5-8pm. The Ltd Gallery is featuring "B: A Tribute to 'B' Movies," art inspired by sci-fi and horror movies. The show opens on October 5th (artist reception starts at 7pm), and is on display through November 3rd.
Don't miss "Trick or Treat," a group show at the Online Cafe, curated by Zachary Sofia and featuring
work by Yvette Endrijautzki, Morbid Anatomy, Ian Douglas, ferger, George Jennings, and Richard Olmsted.

"Transmission" at the
Mercury, Thursday, 11 October from 9.30pm til late. Features art by
Mandy McGee Photography and belly dancing by
Adderstone Bellydance! You
do not have to be a member for this night, and you do not need a member to
sign
you in. It is open to the public. No dress code. Free for members before
9.30pm.
Starts at 9pm and goes til 2am. The performer will go on around 10.30 and
again
at 11.30, and the artist will be there all night. Come buy art, drinks, hear
music
and watch a sexy lady dance. "Transmission" happens the 2nd Thursday of
every month.
The
2nd Thursday Art Walk
in West Seattle,
Thursday, 11 October from 6-9pm. Don't miss "Mine & Yours," a joint exhibit by Chris Sheridan and Kate Protage at the Twilight Artist Collective: 'We've shared a home and a studio for nearly ten years. It
was a challenge to fit the puzzle pieces together at first, with wildly diverse
personal histories, but over time we've turned the "otherness" that
comes from different thought processes and life experiences into a strength. We
often find that what one person can't do, the other can, and we've learned how
to meet in the middle.
Today, we spend a good part of our days and nights about 10
feet apart in our studio. We take significantly different approaches to
painting - from the content we choose to the brushes we use, and the colors on
our palettes - but like the rest of our life, the results end up being
surprisingly complimentary.' Also check out

"Arts & Social Change: An Open Dialogue" at the Seattle Center, Friday 12 & Saturday 13 October.
This is a regional symposium addressing the ways
that artists, arts organizations, funders, local government, and the
social service sector can collaborate to promote awareness, improve our
communities and develop policies to address cultural equity and social

2nd Friday Art Walk in the Greenwood-Phinney neighbourhood,
Friday, 12 October from 6-9pm. Tasty Delectable Collectibles will be hosting "Fairy Tales and Fables" featuring art by me (Braden Duncan), Redd Walitzki, Augie Pagan, Justin Hillgrove, Siolo Thompson, Xavier Lopez, and more including ten artists from out of state! Don't miss it!
"This is Not Your Grandmother's Still Life" at Bherd Studios, curated by Chris Sheridan and Kate Protage, features the work of eight artists: Marie Gagnon, Sullivan Giles,
Molly Peters, Albert Shelton, Chris Sheridan, Kellie Talbot, Mark Tracy and
Andrea Wicklund) who are breathing new
life into the genre by making drawings and paintings of objects that are
relevant and contemporary, whether that’s through their choices in subject
matter or their technique. From gorgeous, intricate stencil-based paintings of
tattoo equipment to intaglio prints of seemingly straightforward objects that
offer subtle commentary about society’s current hot-buttons, Protage and
Sheridan present work that encompasses a wide range of subjects, styles and resulting
emotions.
Don't miss "Read Between the Lines" at Urban Light Studios,
linocut and woodcut art from six Seattle
artists: Kyle Huntress, Nate Stottrup, Dan Cautrell, Ana
Karina Luna, Scott Travis and Sam Hamrick. Urban Light Studios will also be one of the stops on the Greenwood Lit Crawl. A feast for the ears and eyes, folks!
Solace Wonder will be hosting "Eat My Face" at the Greenwood Collective, Quincy Quigg unleashes his high end horror
decor art. Quigg has been deviously toiling over his pulp macabre
sculptures and has concocted a truly spooky space not for the faint of
heart! Costumes are highly encouraged! (get in the spirit of the season and get some extra mileage out of those costumes, DRESS UP!) Revolting refreshments will be supplied.
Also check out "fArt: Carmen Sylvia's Art Show #1" at The Gallery. 'My father once said, "Never impress, always delight'.
And while the rolling tenderloins and square tits of contemporary art get shown
to be known, Sylvia promises the circular tits of reality. Mix the gilded bone
of her imagination with the tradition of carp and lots of body hair. Good thing
my father is her father also. This is sure to delight you. Take a peek into the

The
2nd Friday Art Walk
in Belltown, Friday, 12 October from 6-9pm. Check out "Pureheart" by
Joseph Park, a series of paintings in the style of 'Prizmism.'
At it's heart, Prizmism is achieved through
a series of paint layers. Each layer, while containing different
visual information, combines with the other to reveal a deeper, richer
image once the viewer becomes immersed in the paintings. The approach is a hybrid of two concepts,
creating a collusion in which organic forms are viewed through the lens
of technology and digitization, referencing the new ways we are coming
to see the world. New coloured pencil dreamscapes by Marco Mazzoni will also be featured.

RAW: Seattle presents "Provocations," Saturday, 13 October from 7-10.30pm at Trinity in Pioneer Square. The event is 21+, fashionable attire (no sneakers), $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Features the local talents of visual artists Brandon Jerwa, Carla Rae, Chris Leon, Christopher Bryce Morris, Elizabeth R, Gahan, Jessica Weathersby, Kate Stevens, Nathan Dz, and William Drumm. your silhouette with a cane, and twirling a raygun. Have a cup of tea
and a cookie, and journey with us to worlds of vintage horror, victorian
steampunk, futuristic science, and magical fantasy. This month they're featuring "Matthew Hinshaw's Darksome Sculpture and Carnivorous Love's Vintage Glass Terrariums."
