"The Linestrider Codex" by Siolo Thompson at Twilight Gallery. This October at Twilight Gallery & Boutique,
Seattle artist Siolo Thompson, will present her tarot themed collection.
Each card, lovingly rendered in graphite, ink, and watercolor will be
on display and available for purchase. Tarot decks created by
artists are a long standing tradition dating back hundreds of years.
Following in the footsteps of many artists before her, Siolo Thompson
has brought her own artistic vision and contemporary style to this
classic divination system.
"The Spirit and the Skull" at Gargoyles Statuary. Please
join us for our "darkest" show of the year as we head towards All
Hallows Eve... Spirit paintings, Ravens, Skulls, and other otherworldly
creatures will
be the focus of this mixed media show. Originals, prints, and more will
be available!

The Belfry Oddities - Tintypes by Henrietta's Eye. Libby Bulloff and Stephen Robinson have been making
tintypes and cyanotypes together for the past two years, using three
100+ year old cameras with romantic histories and photographic processes
popularized during the 1800s.
Flatcolor Gallery - "Let Us Make It, and It Will Be Alright" by Portland artist Ryan Bubnis. What compels us to make things? Could we ever stop? What are the risks and rewards of living a creative life? To coincide with the show, Bubnis has curated the group drawing exhibition, “Friends & Makers,” in the Flatcolor Gallery loft.
Hall Spassov Gallery - "Freeze, Thaw..." by Tracy Taylor Grubbs. Tracy Taylor Grubbs concerns herself with the natural
environment. She possesses an artistic sensibility, a remarkable
ability, to allow us to feel nature's immensity while being utterly
calmed at the same time. Her canvases border on abstraction to the
extent that they dip in and out of representation nearly in front of
your eyes. It's a remarkable feat and makes Tracy Grubbs one of our
most collected and accomplished artists.

OK Gallery - Artwalk Mingle Party & Open Drawing Session. Welcome! Kenneth Lee Huntington here. I'm opening my
studio in Pioneer Square this Artwalk and will be offering the services

Roq la Rue - "The Wild Hunting Dog (Wandering Dioramma)" by Michael Alm. Alm’s installation is inspired by the Hunting Dog
diorama at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and
its 7ft tall 14ft wide freestanding frame commands attention. From the
side the installation is flat and lifeless, but as a viewer squares
their gaze with the frame, the composition dramatically solidifies.The installation will be up until 8 November.
Trabant Coffee - "A Touch of the Macabre" (encore) featuring Larkin, Matthew Hinshaw, and Yvette Endrijautzki. Textural, sculptural, deftly rendered, and intricately
constructed, the creations of these three artists bring a whole new
dimension to the season of Halloween. Curated by Braden Duncan, co-hosted by the Seattle Arts Coalition.

Burien Press - Marianna Maksirisombat & music by Brooke Trisler. Marianna is a local South Seattle artist who produces
both flat and three-dimensional formed canvas pieces as well as formed
steel art and henna. She is well known in the Seattle Metro for
establishing Ballard's Art Church in 2009 by converting an empty church
into a grand art gallery and event space.

The Bainbridge Island Art Walk ~

Bainbridge Arts & Crafts - "Encaustic Horizons" by Claudia Meyer-Newman and "New Work" by John Keppeler
Bainbridge Island Museum of Art - "A Hole in the Heart" by Rachel Feferman. Spanning thirty-five years of artistic creation in a wide range of
media and moods, this retrospective illuminates the work of Rachel
Feferman, who died of breast cancer in 2010 at the age of 55. The
exhibition includes more than twenty large-scale drawings featured in
her book Golden Hands as well as earlier work; with this show
the viewer now has the opportunity to appreciate the nature of her
artistic production as a whole.
The retrospective includes textiles, prints, ceramics, puppets,
drawings and paintings in gouache, and watercolor; throughout, process
and technique are a springboard to expression ranging from the light and
charming to the dark and disturbing.

Eight and Sand - "The Tumultuous Tea Party" by Tiffany Toland-Scott. A series of paintings inspired by feminist themes with

Georgetown Liquor Company - "Masked/Unmasked" by Mandy McGee with "Nebula" paintings by Corey Skillman
Krab Jab Studio - "The Art of Todd Lockwood" For over 20 years, Todd Lockwood has been a major force in the game and fantasy industry, illustrating games such as Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, book covers for author R.A. Salvatore
as well as covers for various books by Tor Publishing, DAW and others.
His depictions of dragons and dark elves are some of the most
recognizable in the fantasy industry. Krab Jab Studio is
excited to present this retrospective of Todd's work, spanning from the
early 1990s to his current work today. Many of the originals in this
show have not been exhibited since publication, and there has not been a
retrospective of this magnitude until now!

Gallery - "Before When" by Sean M Johnson. LxWxH is pleased to bring Seattle artist Sean Johnson
back to the gallery! Johnson will pursue a series of site-specific
installations which investigate the idea of between-ness; such as the
moment between hearing and comprehending, the space between information
and reaction, or the time between emotion and acceptance. Employing
balance, remnants, and limbo, Johnson continues to use objects as
metaphor to the human spirit.
LxWxH Subscription Project - a special guest curated box by Sierra Stinson of Vignettes
Spectrum House - "Backlash" by Amber Andersen. A systems-based series of
mixed process encaustic paintings & graphite drawing prints. Where anatomical correctness & symmetry typically
exist, tensegrity- tension & integrity- is explored when deviations
occur within the body's structural system. Intended as an investigation
into the micro climate laws of nature, the series examines the resulting
adaptation of nature due to distortion on a macro scale.

"Oddmall: Emporium of the Weird" at the Holiday Inn in Everett, Saturday-Sunday, 22-23rd November. Oddmall is more than just an ordinary craft show. It’s a celebration of
uniqueness, creativity, imagination, and wonder where artists, crafters,
and like-minded sorts gather to offer their unusual creations for
public consumption. It’s a forum for creative expression, a classroom
for esoteric wisdom, a soapbox for wild ideas, a miraculous marketplace
of the unconventional, a metaphorical Serengetian watering hole where
the zebras and wildebeests of inspiration and artistry congregate amidst
the snapping crocodiles and scorching sunbeams of originality and

The SAAM is featuring "Deco Japan: Shaping Art & Culture 1920-1945" Jazz.
Gin. Short hair and short skirts. The modern girl. The rise of
film, and the advent of skyscrapers and air travel. After World War I,
the world was changing rapidly. With the machine age came an increased
emphasis on speed. The art world answered with Art Deco, which had a
driving energy that
found expression in its use of themes from cultures all over the world,
wild appropriation of other art forms, and graphic designs with fast
lines that could be adapted and used on everything from housewares to
posters, and for everything from politics to advertising. By World War
II, Art Deco had left its mark on almost every medium of visual art.Through 19 October. (from www.seattleartmuseum.org)
The SAM is currently featuring a multitude of exhibits! Check out:
"City Dwellers: Contemporary Art from India" Bollywood
movie culture, venerated politicians, religious traditions, and art
historical icons all contribute to the myriad of influences in
contemporary urban Indian culture. The artists in this exhibition pay
tribute to this multitude even as they introduce elements of irony,
introspection, and critique. Through their photography and sculpture,
the artists negotiate diverse
ideas and influences on contemporary Indian society—Hindu mythology,
Bollywood movies, Indian and western art, and icons of everyday life in a
global market economy. Many of the works are influenced as much by
popular movie culture and the use of digital technology as by the
conventions of religious ritual and street processions, traditional
theater, and dance. Come see the colorful, contradictory, and complex

The Henry
Art Gallery is currently hosting "Inside/Outside" by Ken Price in the North Galleries. The Henry is pleased to present a focused exhibition of works by Ken
Price (U.S., 1935 – 2012) dating from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s
from the Henry’s permanent collection. Central to the exhibition is Heat Wave,
a portfolio of prints developed in conjunction with Black Sparrow
Graphic Arts that illustrates a compilation of poems by prolific poet
and fiction writer Charles Bukowski (U.S., born Germany 1920 – 1994).
The portfolio was produced in 1995, a year after Bukowski’s death and is
comprised of 15 prints on paper in an edition of 170. Widely considered
a cult hero, in his writing Charles Bukowski depicted the depravity of
American urban life, leading Time magazine to call him “the
laureate of American lowlife” in the late 1980s. The other works
included in the exhibition highlight aspects of Ken
Price’s figurative production, as well as his long-standing investment
in ceramics, drawing, and print-making. The pieces are tightly framed,
everyday representations of urban and rural scenes, rendered in a
playful and colorful manner. They recall cartoons or graphic novels,
appearing familiar at first, but uncanny upon closer inspection. A Los
Angeles-based artist, Ken Price is known primarily as a
sculptor and a printmaker. He is also widely recognized for his
abstract large-scale ceramic sculptures. (from henryart.org)
The Frye Art Museum. This fall, the Frye
Founding Collection is crowd-curated. The most Liked paintings are being
shown in the galleries along with the names and comments of more than
4,000 people from around the globe who voted on social media for their
favorite paintings. Also featured is "Withered Lotus Cast in Iron" by Pan Gonkai. A contemporary master of ink painting, Pan Gongkai prepares large-scale compositions without interruption,
in sessions that often last more than twelve hours. He views this
physically demanding process as a key performative element of his work.
For his exhibition at the Frye Art Museum, Pan has created a
large-scale, site-specific ink painting which will extend the entire
length of the museum’s largest gallery.
The
Frye also hosts an art lecture series every Thursday night.
With this
much going on, you couldn't possibly complain that there's nothing to do in
Seattle!
